Happy Halloween - Um, a week late

Ashlee got to carve a pumpkin in her Preschool class. It was my first pumpkin carving myself (usually I stay away from the messy seeds and knife and just take pictures).

   

Here are our cute little blonde Geishas. Well, they had black hair for one night. You should have seen my poor tub that night. I had to wash all their hair at least twice, the tub had a nasty black film that just seemed to linger. The girls sure thought it was fun getting their hair spray painted and their faces painted white. Then there was TJ the enforcer!

 

 

Ashlee kept saying she was going to be a Cheetah Girl because that's what Amber at our sitter was being, and Ashlee had no idea what her outfit was. Before we left Carli was going around the house practicing, "Trick or Treat, now give me candy". Nice, who taught her that? Not me, I was the parent standing in the driveway yelling, "Make sure you say thank you" at every house!

Through the mind of a child

Today we went to my nephew, Trevor's, 5th birthday party. Carli was so excited she could hardly wait. We're heading to the car and she says, "Mom, now we're going to Trevor's party at Chuckee-Cheezitz!" Some people say you are what you eat, I guess my kids just talk about what they eat!

A few funny things....

My girls crack me up. This is proof that even though they act like they can't hear us when we're talking to them....they can. They just choose to remember the stuff that may not be quite so important.

Examples:

• Carli comes in my room this morning as I'm getting ready. She just woke up but seems to be in a good mood. Before I know it she has a pair of my shoes on, looks at me, yells, "I'll be back, I have to run errands", slams the bathroom door and I'm left standing there at 6:30am in a blur of Carli.
• Carli loves to do my hair right now. Did I say loves? I meant LOVES to do my hair. Like, everyday. And she's not gentle, oh no, she is quite violent in her hairbrushing. But my favorite part before I pop a few pain killers is when she first starts her little process. She grabs my head (one hand on each side of my head), looks at me and says, "Mom, I need you to hold still for a minute". Now plug your nose and say it like a 2 year old, it's pretty funny. Then the funny gets slapped away with a brush crushing into my skull - "Painpill please!"
• Ashlee is all into being my little angel (aka - booty kisser). She waits and watches her little sister like a vulcher. She knows Carli will do something naughty if she gives it a few minutes. Right when Carli is going down (time-out, sitting on bed, take your pick), Ashlee swoops in out of nowhere with, "I love you mommy", or she starts to clean up messes or puts my shoes away that I always leave in the kitchen after work. She's going in for the kill (aka - brownie points with mom).
• I'm shopping at Kohl's the other day and much to Ashlee's dismay she is in a cart (hates them, she is WAY TO BIG for a cart!) So we're walking through the little girl department and she sees Hannah stuff and says, "Oh, mom, I want that!" Then, she sees the little girl training bras and says with some real umph, "Mom, a bra for little girls, I want that!" (Girl, get back to me in 10 years!)

I know it looks awesome, this is one of my hair sessons with Carli. Dude, I couldn't feel my head when she was done digging 50 clips into it! (Sorry it's so close up, Chris took it)

One sexy house wife (to be)

When I went to pick up my girls from my mother-in-laws last week, this is what I found. Content as could be, cooking away. Apparantly she just took her clothes off, put her apron on, and had been playing like that for an hour. Has someone been watching too much Desperate Housewives? Hey, I can honestly say this time it wasn't me, that's one show I've never watched.

I have a 2 year old, can you see where I'm going with this?

Okay - don't judge me because I think my girls are hilarious sometimes when they say things wrong. I love it because I know it won't last long, so I embrace every misspoken word I get!

We're getting out of the minivan today for gymnastics and Carli grabs her leotard and says, "I have a edgy mom". Silent laugh, and yes, this time I did correct my daughter for pronouncing it wrong. But she still continued to say edgy the whole night. That leotard is so done for. There's nothing that makes a mom prouder than watching her 2 year old pull out her "edgy" during the ENTIRE gymnastics and dance class.That's my girl! I'll be superglueing her leotard to the outer perimeter of her bum next week!

The Statue of Deliveries

I have a 4 year old, can you see where I'm going with this?

I'm doing Ashlee's hair the other day and ask her to sit still so we can hurry. She responds back, very proud, "Like the Statue of Deliveries Mom?" Um, I didn't know if I should try not to laugh because she was so proud of herself and clearly slaughtered the word, or cry because I was proud of my baby for knowing about the Statue of Liberty. I quickly learned that she learned about it on....wait for it....yes a cartoon....The Wonder Pets. Hey, I'm telling you, my kids may like the old TV, but they learn Spanish from Dora, and history from The Wonder Pets.

I of course think it is adorable to hear her say the Statue of Deliveries, and try to prompt it in the conversation whenever appropriate. Chris on the other hand corrects her and is trying to teach her the right way to say it. The funny thing is, she totally thinks she's saying it right, so it's kind of a lost battle. I love it!

Peter Piper Pizza

 

 The girls were begging us (well, Ashlee was) to go to Peter Piper Pizza. So, after gymnastics last week we caved. They couldn't snarf their pizza down fast enough to go play. They could ride the stupid (that wasn't nice, I meant totally cool) kiddie rides like the weiner-mobile and merry-go-round all night long! But hey man, they sure can have fun for a quarter. I mean, not that a quarter lasts more than 30 seconds, but $10 later they seemed to be more than satisfied and headed off to the prize counter for some awesome toys I'm sure I will sneak away to the garbage when they're not looking.

The Devil in Disguise

Carli is going through this stage called "I can do what ever I want, talk however I want, and listen (or not) to who ever I want - I dare you to stop me". I was telling the girls at work how hard she is right now, and one of them called her "Chucky" because I was telling her how everywhere I go people tell me she looks like a little baby doll. Now a Chucky doll I can relate to. It seriously fits her to a tee. Wait, does Chucky's head spin, because Carli's does about 4 times a day. And you may think I am being mean, but dude, the girl may seriously kill me by her 3rd birthday. Not in the Chucky way, but in the way of emotional and physical exhaustion. And the funny thing is, she is at a stage where she can also be totally hilarious and I just can't get enough of her. But then, Chucky emerges and the moment is gone and all hell breaks loose. Time out, bed, no toonies, we're trying it all folks. I think if an outsider was observing (like "The Nanny"), they would say they know who is at least "trying" to run the house and make the decisions, even though she's only 2 1/2 and I could squash her like a bug!

Preschool

Ashlee started preschool last week......

Her cool Aunt Kelli hooked her up with a new Hannah Montana backpack filled with cool Hannah school stuff. (Even though she puts her bag in her cubbie as soon as she walks in - she still looks cool CARRYING it!)

 

She was so excited to go, and Carli kept saying, "I go preschool with Ashee". Well, yes Carli, you are going with me to take her, but you aren't going in with her. Sorry kiddo, too young!

Yes, I am the dorky mom who took her camera, and because it was her first day we got there early to meet her teacher and I took her picture by their name cards. She wasn't embarresed yet, wait until I try that in 3rd grade!

 

When she came out she was beaming from ear to ear. Preschool appears to be a hit!
