Ashlee has this thing with "monsters under her bed". I think it started as a way she thought she could get attention. At first she would act silly about it, and call us in, and we would promise her "Daddy would never let monsters in the house". Then, I think it spiraled into a way to continue to get attention and quite frankly, I think she scared herself into believing they were there. And this became something she would wake up with a few times a night. You know, after we finally got her to sleep after convincing her for 30 minutes there were NO monsters under her bed! So, finally it started to get a little bit better. My mom bribed her (man I love bribery, it works wonders) with going to a movie if the girls slept through the night for like a month or something. I mean, we started small, with like 1 night, then went to a week, then it went to the Chihuahua movie out in Oct (but that's a whole nother story (yes, I'm aware "nother" is not a word)).
So, we started to get the girls sleeping through the night again - ALLELUIA! and we pretty much made it so that "monster" wasn't really allowed to be said anymore. Well, Friday afternoon Miss Ashlee comes walking out of her room just waking up from her nap, and she has sunglasses on. I just look at her waiting for the explanation. "Mom, I took my nap in my sunglasses, because when I wear my sunglasses, I can't even see the monsters under Carli's bed!" And waiter, please bring me a Margarita, mommy needs a drink.
